I'm an information specialist -- it's my job to find and analyze the information you need.

  • Business information

    • Profiles and updates on companies and organizations: suppliers, customers, partners
    • Tracking competitors and their products
    • Industry profiles and outlooks
    • Market intelligence

In today's competitive world, success depends on the added value of your products or services, compared to those of your competitors. This is why information - technological, administrative and marketing - is essential to ensure a competitive advantage for your products and services.

  • Technological and academic information

High-tech, biotech, and less esoteric subjects such as packaging or metal recycling... or graduate research information in any field.

What is the fastest, most effective and most accurate way to get the information that your company or organization needs every day?

It isn't usually the Internet.

  • Quality information exists in thousands of professional databases that the general public doesn't have access to.
  • Some of it is on the Internet -- but you can't always find it through the general search engines
  • You need an in-depth knowledge of where to look for what kinds of information.

As a professional information specialist, I combine a deep knowledge of the available information sources on and off the Web, acquired through formal education at the post-graduate level, with the experience in searching them, acquired by working, day after day, in this profession: the field of information retrieval.

Many of my clients are from the private sector:

  • The computer and hi-tech sectors (my area of specialization)
  • Biotech, nutraceuticals and the food industry
  • General industry (everyone needs information on products, markets and competitors...)
  • Lawyers and doctors -- and patients looking for medical information.

Others are:

  • government or municipal agencies
  • non-profit organizations
  • graduate students doing Ph.Ds
  • -- even private inventors!

I also consult to businesses and government agencies; give workshops and courses; and until recently taught in the information science departments of universities and colleges. (If this interests you, take a look at where I have taught.)

Information resources I use:

  • Academic and sci-tech databases
  • Business news and business intelligence databases
  • Government databases
  • Market research services
  • Worldwide patent databases
  • Industry databases
  • and of course -- the Internet

Types of services I offer:

  • Business intelligence: new markets;, comparisons of potential markets; competitor analysis; identification of potential suppliers; identification of key opinion leaders; in-depth research to support business decisions; ongoing alerting services.

  • Research and Development: for the high-tech, biotech, medical and medical-device sectors: surveys of the professional, academic and technical literature; initial patent searches and patent-invalidation searches.

  • Reports, analysis and evaluation of information: executive summaries, periodic updates or full-length reports.

  • Consulting and training information workers on setting up and running a library or information center.

  • Teaching workshops: for information workers, engineers and other high-tech staff, educators, university and college staff, librarians, companies and non-profit organizations.

  • Private and group tuition in information retrieval, according to your specific needs.
